The initiation of the Global Hospitality Accounting Common Practices was done by a group of final year bachelor students from the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL). In February 2012, the five students laid the groundwork for the project by collecting financial inventory data from a number of European hotels. After analysis and organization, the group created a comprehensive searchable database from the collected material.
The developmentwas commissioned by HFTP and done as a Student Business Project, a service through EHL. The students did a notable job and won the Paul Dubrule Award for having the top student project out of thirty-four projects. The participating students included: Ayane Melody Ka Ho, Nicole Bloechlinger, Karin Kupper, Claudia Reich and Maria Aman.
